GOV.UMO ENO: WHERE ARE YOUR TRADUCERS?

It was Thomas Edison, who opined that, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

In 2022, when Governor Umo Eno sought the guber ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, to fly the party’s flag in the last governorship elections, not too many persons gave him a chance to succeed.

They were those who were deliberate in their attempt to malign him, and they were others who were quite vociferous in leading a mudslinging campaign to pull the then Governorship Aspirant down. All of these campaigns of calumny were to bully him out of the race, and it was well coordinated and sustained.

In as much as we had traducers, we had core believers in the project, who stuck their neck out, to ensure Pastor Umo Eno was victorious in the race. When a man seeks for power, he must be prepared for the battles that will follow, as it has never been a roller coaster, else, everyone would have sought for power.

In spite of the daunting challenges, Pastor Umo Eno persevered, and was determined to surmount the obstacles, the hiccups, and the stormy roads. Just as Sun Tzu postulated, “Conquerors estimate in their temple before the war begins.” The Governor knew what he was going in for, and became prepared for what he faced, in the build up to the elections.
Sun Tzu had further opined that, “When people are unified in their purpose, no obstacle can stand in their way.

In reaffirmation to Tzu’s words, Pastor Umo Eno remained purposeful, in his determination to serve the state, against the interests of those who said he did not have a WAEC certificate, the very basic requirement to qualify him to stand the elections.

But days had turned into weeks, weeks to months, and today, a year and six months into his administration as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, he was last week, officially awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration from the University of Uyo in its 29th and 30th combined convocation, silencing naysayers and putting to an end, wagging tongues.

The people who vilified him in the past, are nowhere to be found today, when it really mattered most, for them to turn in their congratulatory messages with the same sources they hitherto used to demean the person of the Governor.

I ask again, where are the traducers of Governor Umo Eno? Like the Governor said, “As a Pastor, I forgive them all.”

A REPUTATION FOUNDED ON INTEGRITY, MUST BE NURTURED BY TRUTH.
