…as Ubong Nkutt emerges Chairmanship Candidate

The Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kufreabasi Edidem, has described the conduct of the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries as the most peaceful one in the history of the party in Itu Local Government Area.
Rt Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem who is the secretary of Itu Local Government Primaries Organising Committee, gave the verdict on Saturday, shortly after monitoring the party’s Primaries in Itu Local Government Area.

Edidem attributed the seamless conduct of the exercise to the peaceful disposition of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, who is the leader of the Party in the state; saying his Peaceful leadership style has further United the Party as a family and made every member of PDP to see the need to be peaceful in the affairs of the Party.
On his part, the Chairman of Itu Local Government Primaries Organising Committee and Political Leader of Itu, Dr Henry Archibong, noted that the peaceful atmosphere of the PDP Primaries in Itu Local Government Area was a testament to the solidarity of both the youths and elders.

He explained, “this superlative leadership quality of Gov Umo Eno, especially in dolling out various empowerment schemes to the people of the state, has endeared members of the party to upholding the principles of zoning in the just concluded exercise across the state.
Archibong presented the PDP Chairmanship Candidate in Itu, Mr Ubong Nkutt, who was earlier nominated by party delegates through open secret balloting and declared winner by the returning Officer, Prince AnietienteAbasi Isu.
Dr Archibong said, he was fully convinced on the capacity of the candidate to turn things around in Itu for the good of the people at the grassroot when he eventually elected as Chairman of Itu in the October 5, 2024 Local Government Area election.
While also commending the peaceful conduct of the exercise, two of the PDP delegates in Itu who participated in the Chairmanship primary, Obonganwan Grace Ekong who is the former Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government and Engr. Bassey Ekanem, MD of Basse Engineering Limited and member of Itu Primaries Organising Committee in their separate speeches, stated that their decisions to vote for Ubong Nkutt in the primary was because they believed he was the best choice for the party in Itu; judging from his antecedents of hard work and dedication in serving the people in all capacities he found himself.

They both expressed their trust in Ubong Nkutt to drive the ARISE AGENA of Gov Umoh Eno at the grassroots level.
A former Councilor in Itu, Hon. Helen Nta from Obot Itu, who represented Ward 1 in the 6th Itu Legislative Council was also presented as PDP Vice Chairmanship candidate in Itu.
Other Stakeholders who also attended the Primaries in Itu include, Chairman, State Secondary Education Board and member of Itu Primaries Organising Committee, Dr Ekaette Ebong Okon; Chairman, Transition Committee in Itu, Barr Etetim Onuk; former PDP Governorship aspirant in the State, Mr James Iniama; immediate past commissioner for Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Dr Bassey Okon; PDP State Officer and member of Itu Primaries Organising Committee, Hon. Effiong Ebong; Vice Chairman, Transition Committee in Itu, Hon. Emem Ekpanya, Secretary, Transition Committee in Itu, Mr. Emmanuel Ndon; Honourary Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Mobilization, Uyo Senatorial District, Deaconess Elsie Esara; PDP Chapter Officer in Itu, Mrs Inemesit Maxwell, amongst others.
Eleven PDP Councillorship candidates were also nominated across various Wards in Itu by members of PDP who also conducted themselves peacefully at various venues of the Primaries.
