LG Polls: “Do Not Take Our Right” Nkari Tells Ini Stakeholders

…presents Etim Etim as consensus chairmanship aspirant

As the countdown to the 2024 Local Government Elections in Akwa Ibom State begins, Nkari Stakeholders’ Forum has appealed to stakeholders, political parties as well as intending aspirants to maintained zoning arrangement for the office of the Chairman as previously agreed upon by stakeholders, leaders of thought, and the political class to allowed Nkari produce the next council chairman.

At a parley with some journalists in Ikot Ekpene, International President of the Forum, Hon. Effiong Udoette, who was flaked by the General Secretary, Barr. Alphonsus Okon, Ex-officio Barr. Bassey Ekpo, Hon. Benjamin Akpan, Hon. Clement Isong, Deacon Uduak Essien among other notable songs of Nkari, expressed their readiness to support their son Elder Etim Etim emerge in the upcoming elections having supported other wards and zone to take the chairmanship slot over the years.

They forum emphatically, commended Gov. Umo Eno’s unapologetic stance for justice and fairness which according to them will lead to a peaceful,free, fair and credible local Government elections with Nkari kingdom having a fair share of a local Government chairmanship slot in the upcoming elections.

They decried the current situation
where no elective position has been given to Nkari Clan (ward) 4, since the advent of the current democratic government in 1999 to date, a reality they collectively weep for, and described it as unfair,unjust, and a clear violation of established democratic protocols, which if allowed will undermine the inalienable rights of Nkari people and may lead to future political crisis in the area.

Speaking, the Consensus Aspirant, Elder Etim Etim hinted that his passion to become the Council Chairman stemed from the call by his people; adding that having been well versed with the dynamics of his Local Government Area as well as being favoured by the zoning structure, he has what it takes to take up the onerous task of leading his people as Chairman.

He highlighted his achievements during his tenure as the Secretary, Niger Delta Council and expressed optimism that he will be elected as Ini Council Chairman in the much anticipated elections; and that with his vast leadership experience, he will attract investors and provide an enabling environment for them to operate, in order to foster development in his LGA.

“The resources in Ini is for all of us, and by the grace of God, when elected as Chairman of Council, as a grassrooter those resources will be well channeled, and the peace we are all longing for will be achieved. The wealth that are embedded in the place will be enjoyed by all. In my 26 years of active politics, have given scholarship to students and business grant to people and if given the opportunity i will do more,” Mr. Etim promised.

The Ini born businessman used the opportunity to commend the State Governor, His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey for making the impact of his government felt in Ini LGA within one year in office, a gesture he noted was the first of its kind ever experienced by Nkari people from a Governor. He prayed God to continually bless and strengthen Governor Umo Eno.
